A game developer's quest to make running fun
Hi there! If you're reading this, you probably know the feeling. You put on your shoes, hit the pavement, and within ten minutes... it's just you, the road, and the creeping urge to stop.
Running is one of the most accessible forms of exercise on the planet. No gym membership. No equipment. Just you and the ground beneath your feet.
So why does it feel so boring?
The problem with running
Most people quit running not because it's hard, but because it's monotonous. The same route. The same playlist. The same internal battle of willpower every single time.
Fitness apps tried to help. They gave us stats, streaks, and step counters. But let's be honest: staring at a pace graph after a run doesn't exactly make you excited for the next one.
Something was missing.
A moment on the pavement
Our founder is a game developer. He's spent years building worlds that pull people in, that make them want to keep playing, that reward progress in ways that feel meaningful.
But when it came to his own runs, he felt none of that.
Until one day, he noticed something. When another runner appeared on the same path, everything changed. Suddenly there was someone to chase. Someone to pace with. A reason to push harder, run faster, go further.
That spark of competition. That silent rivalry with a stranger. That was the feeling running apps were missing.
He thought to himself: "I build games for a living. Why can't running feel like this all the time?"
That's how RunAI was born.
Games taught us something
Games are not just about points and leaderboards. The best games tap into something deeper. They give you a sense of identity. A feeling of progress that matters. A reason to come back not because you should, but because you want to.
We're not slapping badges on a run tracker and calling it gamification. We're rethinking what it means to feel motivated, one run at a time.
Pace against a ghost of your personal best. Race in a virtual competition. Watch your runner evolve as you do. Every run is a mission, not a chore.
Built by people who actually run
RunAI is built by a team of game developers, designers, and runners based in Singapore. We know what it feels like to lose motivation at kilometer three. We also know what it feels like to chase someone down in the final stretch.
We're building the app we always wished existed.
Backed and recognized
We're proud to be supported and recognized by organizations that believe in what we're building.
